Class Work

Archives Activity

My experiences have given me another way to do research on my quilt. Even though they made it look easier than what it is, It allowed to have an interest in the quilt in order to gain more information. The benefit of asking question in my research can allow me to expand on my research drawing information for the data i collected to form an incisive analysis. The importance of metadata that can give me different forms of information rather that just test like the  mug shot of Andrew, that allowed further research. Also the recorded voice of the Jeff Graham. Which are all key information that  can be stretched further. Using all the multi modal modes to transmit information into the researcher and making the collection of data interesting. During one of the activities i chose a book titled” What teens should know about homosexuality.” That title of the  book spoke out to me because since there are more people ” coming out” there is a lot of misinformation given out to the young. Most parents are more concerned about there child having children too young and scaring them than educating them in a safe way. This also ties into my major of public health. One fact I didn’t know was the highest percent of HIV cases goes to the heterosexual woman. That says a lo t about the society being educated the amount of fear that still lingers in the LGBT community. Being in the archives was an interesting and eye opening experience that no linger makes me dread researching.

Haltman Revised

I agree with Haltman that essays can be represented by the spirit of the imagination and have practical understanding with in the ” text.  The quote” These are the objects we are as historians in the field of Material Culture seek to understand.” In Sophie Woodward’s article material culture is about the center of the object and having a central understanding that pertains to Haltman.
